Favorite Student

How can I choose, I love them all. Last year I came into the job with a false impression of what teaching in a small town is all about. I thought by being firm, fair, and honest the kids would respond positively to me and respect me. I was wrong, extremely wrong. The kids did not respond to me at all, they hated me. By the end of the year I was able to loosen up some and realized that the kids only respect you if you show them that you care about them. This year I took the time out of my schedule to coach the middle school football team, I was myself from day one instead of this impersonal jerk, and I took the time to show that I actually cared by asking the kids how are you doing.

Last night our school had our Christmas party at the Bourbon Mall and it worked out that I sat across from my principal. We had a blast, I think I scared the other people in the restaurant because my laugh echoed throughout the entire building. My Principal remarked that she was surprised by how much my students knew after observing my class. My Principal was especially impressed by a particular few who are considered extremely incorrigible. The class is made up of nine boys who are all considered incorrigible. Over the course of the year I feel like I have been able to treat them with respect and model for them the behavior of a man. They have responded to me in such a great way. When my Principal made her remark I said without thinking, "I love those guys" and its true.

You sir, are incorrigible.

Our trip to Leland was as good as we had expected. Thanks for treating us well, and letting us back into your lives for a spell.

We look forward to hearing Castellano with you guys soon!
